What is Permanent Acupuncture, and How Can it Help You?

Acupuncture is an ancient treatment originating in China, with the oldest archaeological evidence dating from around 100 BC. While it has been considered a pseudoscience for some time, there’s a growing body of studies that show that it can be an effective treatment for a number of conditions.

In 2001, German researcher and neurologist Dr.med. Ulrich Werth introduced a new form of acupuncture, known as permanent acupuncture. Using a combination of Western research and traditional Eastern knowledge, he found that implanting a number of tiny titanium permanent acupuncture needles in the cartilage and skin of the ear would stimulate production of dopamine in the brain.

This treatment has shown a remarkable efficacy as an alternative treatment for Alzheimer Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and other degenerative neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis and Restless Leg Syndrome.

What to Expect

Using these permanent needles, treatment is quick and easy. It’s also a marked improvement over other treatments for many of the conditions that it can help with, as the majority of them have no cure. Illnesses such as Alzheimer Parkinson Disease can only otherwise be treated using surgical procedures or powerful drugs that have a wide range of potentially debilitating side effects, and the results are not particularly reliable from one patient to the next.

The implantation of the needles is a relatively simple procedure that takes place under local anaesthetic, and doesn’t require hospitalisation. After implantation the needles are not visible, and don’t cause any pain or discomfort. The procedure itself takes between two to three hours, and takes place at the Center for Neuro-Regenerative Medicine clinic in Valencia, Spain. Over 5,500 patients suffering from neurological diseases have been treated successfully so far.
